Excavated 1895.
In Notizie degli Scavi di Antichità, prior to January 1897, this house was described as being in Insula 12 of Reg. VI, afterwards it was changed to Insula 15 of Reg. VI.
In Notizie degli Scavi di Antichità, January 1897, plan on p.14, this house was numbered as VI.15.7.
It was renumbered in NdS, May 1897, p.198 as VI.15.6. See Note on Region VI, Insula 15 plan for information.
The spelling of the presumed owners name has been variously referred to as Herennius, Herrennius or Herrenius..

According to NdS, this doorway led into a modest house.
The entrance doorway had limestone doorjambs. The fauces, or entrance corridor, preserved remains of coarse plaster.
Above the threshold of the doorway, the usual holes in the walls for the beam that would have strengthened the door when it was closed, could be seen.

According to NdS, two bronze signet/seals were dug up in the atrium.
One had the name A. Caesi Valentis, and on the other was N. Herenni Nardi.

VI.15.6 Pompeii.
Seal of A. Caesi Valentis.
According to NdS, a rectangular bronze seal/signet with the words in raised letters and backwards, was found 11th June 1896, on the north side of the atrium.
It had a handle to the ring, and a small vase or jar was incised in the bezel.

According to NdS, another rectangular bronze seal/signet was also found with the words in raised letters and backwards.
It had a ring handle, and a vase was engraved in the bezel.

According to NdS, the four columns that held up the corners
of the impluvium roofing were brick and devoid of any decoration.
The walls of the atrium were also without decoration.
In the north-east corner of the atrium was the beginning of a staircase to the upper floor.

According to NdS, the tetrastyle atrium had a square impluvium, of 1.70m on each side.
The impluvium was faced with opus signinum, and a marble rectangular table was placed at its head on the west side.
The table was supported by two legs, finished at the front end with lion’s paws.
